Portrait of artist Aviva Huber

About

Aviva Huber

Aviva Huber (b. 1990, Chicago, IL) is a Tel Aviv–based painter and sculptor whose practice centers on reliefs, where painting and sculpture converge.

By elevating clay from the surface at varying angles and working with the shifting relationship between light and material, she searches for form and for stories held within the human figure.

Each body, in its own fragile way, is translated into clay through low relief. The technique gives the works a sense of elusiveness: in the right light — or in its absence — they seem to almost disappear.
